About Facilities

The Department of Chemistry is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories designed to support both foundational undergraduate education and advanced research.
1. Engineering Chemistry Laboratory (for UG Courses) To provide hands-on experience with fundamental chemical principles and their direct application to engineering problems.
Key Activities:
o Water Analysis: Determination of hardness, alkalinity, and chloride content.
o Electrochemistry: Conductometric and potentiometric titrations, pH metry.
o Polymer Chemistry: Viscosity measurements of polymer solutions.
o Instrumental Methods: Hands-on training with essential instruments like pH meters, conductometers, and spectrophotometers.
This lab ensures our undergraduates bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical, industry-relevant skills.
2. Advanced Research Laboratory
Our research lab is a dynamic hub of innovation, primarily focused on the synthesis and characterization of advanced nanomaterials.
Primary Research Focus: The Synthesis of Advanced Nanomaterials
o Nanoparticles: Synthesis of metallic (e.g., Au, Ag, Cu) and semiconductor (e.g., ZnO, TiO2) nanoparticles using chemical, green, and biological methods.
o Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs):  Design and synthesis of porous, crystalline MOF materials for applications in gas storage, separation, catalysis, and drug delivery.
o Nanocomposites: Development of hybrid materials by combining nanoparticles with polymers, carbon-based materials (like graphene), or other matrices to create substances with enhanced mechanical, electrical, or catalytic properties.
