About Department

Information Technology (IT) is the study, design, development, implementation, management and application of computers and telecommunication-based information systems to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data. The department aims to impart high quality education in IT and conduct top notch research in IT-related fields.
The department provides state-of-art infrastructure and computing facilities to students and faculty. The faculty members are actively involved in different domains of research with special focus in four thrust areas — (i) Network and Information Security (ii) Artificial Intelligence (iii) Data Base Management Systems (iv) Software Engineering and Computing. The department has a regular computing lab as well as state-of-art research labs in robotics and networks & software development, which help the faculty and students to work on funding projects and offer consultancy services.
The Department follows a well-proven pedagogy which shares knowledge with the young and vibrant minds of the college. As we are affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, we follow their curriculum. In addition to teaching core IT subjects, we also deal with electives and value-added courses in advanced topics such as Cloud Computing, Digital Image Processing, Wireless Sensor Networks, Computer Graphics, and Applications of Embedded Systems using Arduino, etc.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • PEO 1: Graduates will have a high level of technical competency in the field of Information Technology to identify problems and to produce innovative solutions for industrial needs.
  • PEO 2: Graduates will have the capability to adapt to changes in roles and responsibilities through professional development and lifelong learning via self-study or continuing education in IT or managerial studies.
  • PEO 3: Graduates of this program will ethically apply their computing knowledge and skills, considering societal, economic, and environmental factors.

Program Specific Outcomes

  • PSO 1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to solve complex problems in the IT field and have the ability to design, develop, and provide solutions using modern tools.
  • PSO 2: Apply the knowledge of technology, ethics, management principles, and soft skills to carry out societal IT projects in diverse environments as a member and leader in a team.
