The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2007. It offers B.E. (EEE) and M.E. (Power Systems Engineering) & Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering). The department is recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai. The department has state of art laboratories worth Rs 1.43 Crores. To nurture students' innovative ideas, the Department has established industry-supported laboratories sponsored by Texas Instruments (TI), Coimbatore. The department is progressing towards world-class excellence through committed teaching and research faculty.
The department has received Rs. 1.4 Crores towards R&D activities from various funding agencies such as Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Department of Science & Technology (DST), and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department has Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) sponsored by DST. Energy audit and power quality audit are being regularly conducted by qualified Energy Managers (approved by Bureau of Energy Efficiency-BEE) for Velammal Educational Trust since 2019.
The department regularly conducts various programs such as International & National Conferences, FDPs, STTPs, Entrepreneurship Development activities, Energy Awareness camps, Project contests, Webinars, Professional society activities under Institution of Engineers (India) IE(I) - Students' Chapter, Workshops, and Value-added courses on cutting-edge technologies.
Active Alma mater cell for networking students with Elite alumni to provide better placement for EEE students. To match the skill set of students with Industry requirements, MoUs have been signed with reputed companies in various domains. To bridge the curricular gap, faculty members and students have visited various industries and attended internship programs.
Since inception, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has brought several laurels in Academics, Sports, Placements, Higher Studies and Entrepreneurial activities.
