Velammal’s Renewable Energy Club (VREC) was formed on 11/08/2008. The club has been active in propagating the awareness about Renewable Energy. To create awareness about New and Renewable Energy Sources among students and staff and to inculcate energy conserving habit among the Public. The club members are assured to promulgate the importance of energy conservation and its effective utilization among the student community and public. As the world continues to face challenges such as climate change, pollution, and depletion of fossil fuels, it becomes important for young people to understand the value of renewable energy. Through its activities, the club helps students gain practical knowledge, develop problem-solving skills, and become responsible citizens who care about the environment. The role of energy monitoring cell is to curtail the unwanted usage of electrical appliances such as fan, light, AC and teaching aids (OHP,LCD projector). Members do walk through auditing twice a day to conserve energy within college campus. With the student members a walk through audit was done in our college campus for computing the total load of VCET.
